At its meeting on October 29, 2019, the Board approved a new asset allocation policy, which included a 3% increase to Growth and 8% increase to Diversifying with a corresponding 3% reduction to Inflation Hedge and 8% reduction to Risk Parity.  No board action was taken related to SamCERA’s investment commitments or hires.

At its meeting on December 3, 2019, the Board of Retirement approved a $15 million commitment to Angelo Gordon Credit Solutions Fund L.P.

At its meeting on January 28, 2020, the Board of Retirement approved a $75 million investment to Graham Capital Quantitative Global Macro strategy to be placed in the Diversifying risk category (Alternatives asset class composite) within the Absolute Return portfolio.

The Board also approved a $75 million investment to PIMCO Multi-Asset Alternative Risk Premia (MAARS) strategy to be placed in the Diversifying risk category (Alternatives asset class composite) within the Absolute Return portfolio.

Lastly, the Board of Retirement approved a $200 million investment to DoubleLine Securitized Income strategy to be placed in the Diversifying risk category (Fixed Income asset class composite) within the Core Fixed Income portfolio.

At its meeting on February 25, 2020, the Board of Retirement approved a $30 million investment in the Brookfield Super Core Infrastructure fund as part of the Private Real Asset composite within the Inflation Hedge portfolio.

At its meeting on October 30, 2018, the Board of Retirement approved to hire Acadian Asset Management and PanAgora Asset Management for a low volatility equity mandate with an initial investment of 3% of plan assets (approximately $125-135 million) to each manager for a total allocation of 6% of plan assets (approximately $250-$270 million in aggregate).

At its meeting on December 4, 2018, the Board of Retirement approved a $30 million capital commitment to EQT Infrastructure IV, L.P., as part of SamCERA’s private real assets portfolio.  The Board also approved a $40 million capital commitment to the PIMCO Private Income Fund within the opportunistic credit sub-asset class within the fixed income portfolio.

At its meeting on January 29, 2019, the Board of Retirement approved the transition of its TIPS separate account managed by Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH) to the BBH Intermediate Inflation Indexed Securities Fund.

At its meeting on February 26, 2019, the Board of Retirement approved a $25 million capital commitment to Taurus Mining Finance Fund II, L.P., as part of SamCERA’s Natural Resources portfolio within Private Real Assets.
